Tips for Candle Lovers

A GUIDE FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR CANDLE.

01

Buy a good quality candle

Consider the wax when you buy a candle. Cheap candle are often made from paraffin wax which is not good for your health or home. Soy wax is know to burn at a slower rate so you get good value for money. Cheap candles are also likely to have a poor scent to wax ratio so they wont smell great when lit.

03

Trim the Wick

Make sure you trim the wick, about half a CM, before each use. This will help your candle to burn evenly and can reduce black smoke. It will also hep the candle to use the wax effectively, for example it wont burn too quickly.

Top Tip: nail clippers are great for cutting wicks if you don't have a wick trimmer at home.

05

Reset and refresh!

Don't move the candle straight after blowing it out. Give the candle time to allow the wax to reset otherwise you could end up with wonky candle wax!

02

Choose an opportune time

Always allow time for the candle to make a full melt pool from side to side in the container. This can take up to 3 hours so make sure you light the candle with enough time to enjoy it and allow it to burn through to a melt pool. Doing this prevents your candle from tunneling, losing wax and scent.

04

Position your candle

Think about the best place for your candle so it can fill the room with fragrance. Make sure it is on a level surface so it can burn effectively. Placing your candle next to a window can cause some of the fragrance to escape. Placing your candle next to the door can cause the flame to flicker which could make the candle burn unevenly. So position away from windows and door so you can fully enjoy the candle fragrance.

06

Cover your candle

After use put the lid back on your candle to keep the wax clean. This will keep your candle dust free but also help the candle maintain its strong scent throw for the next light.
